Your home is likely the biggest investment you will ever make.  If it is not built right and you don’t take care of it, it can be very costly to repair.  Insulation is a critical component in building a house.  Without it, your house will be at risk.

Why Do I Need Insulation?

In winter, insulation keeps cold air out and warm air in, and in summer it does the reverse.  If your house is not properly insulated you can expect some very large utility bills.  If the air inside the home is constantly leaking out, your heating and cooling system has to work that much harder.  Think of it this way, if you are outside on a cold winter day, would you want a ski jacket or a sweater?  Of course, you would want the coat because it keeps your body heat in and the cold air out.

In an ideal situation, there will be sufficient insulation in the outside walls to keep the living areas comfortable and in the attic to keep heat from escaping through the roof and under the floor to do the same.  An estimated 25 percent of heat loss is from an uninsulated roof.  Proper insulation is a green solution, especially when it consists of recycled materials.  Insulation also helps the environment by reducing the need for electricity.  Saving energy is always a good thing.

Under Construction

If you are building a house you will want to do the job of installing insulation right the first time so as to avoid unnecessary problems later on.  Do it right the first time and be done and secure in the knowledge that you have done your best to protect your investment.  You need an experienced Miami Insulation Company who knows their stuff.

What is a Home Energy Audit?

An energy audit, also called a home energy assessment, is made to gauge how much energy your home is using and to identify areas of improvement to correct any areas that are not efficient.  An energy auditor will test each room individually, and, at the same time will look over previous utility bills.  The auditor will speak with you, the homeowner, to gather data on problem areas that are a concern to you.

Assessing utility bills for the 12 months prior to the audit will give the inspector a starting base point to work from.  Another portion of the audit will be to determine habits of the household members to assess if what he sees is normal based on the comings and goings of the residents.  Questions might include the number of residents, times the house may be unoccupied and cooling and heating settings.  An auditor may also use equipment to detect areas of energy loss.

What to Expect

We will use several pieces of equipment during your energy audit, including a smoke wand and infrared cameras to collect data needed to make an assessment and recommendation.  Once the audit is done, we will evaluate the data to determine what needs to be done.  Your home is assessed as a unit, with each area evaluated in relation to the other parts of the whole.

Once a determination is made regarding recommendations to improve your home’s energy efficiency, dependant on what portions you would like us to concentrate on, we will do what is necessary, and may include installing attic insulation, upgrading HVAC, and fixing duct work.  After the work is performed we will furnish any infrared photos and readings of various tests.
